मृगं तु मन्यमानेन पिता वै तेन हिंसितः । अकामयानेन तदा शरीरत्राणमिच्छता,और उसे हिंसक पशु समझकर धोखेसे ही उन्होंने अपने पिताकी हत्या कर डाली। यद्यपि वे ऐसा करना नहीं चाहते थे, तथापि हिंसक पशुसे अपने शरीरकी रक्षाके लिये उनके द्वारा यह क्रूरतापूर्ण कार्य बन गया

Translation

Mistaking him for a beast, he struck and slew his father. He did not wish to do so; yet, seeking then to save his own body from what he believed a violent creature, he unwittingly committed that cruel deed.
