Vaiśampāyana said: As he journeyed on, the illustrious king Yudhiṣṭhira beheld the sacred fords—holy and delightful—along the sea-coast. Here and there those tīrthas were graced by the presence of brāhmaṇas dwelling there, which heightened their sanctity and splendor.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse frames tīrtha-yātrā as a dharmic practice: sacred places are not only naturally beautiful but become spiritually potent through the presence of learned and disciplined brāhmaṇas, emphasizing the ethical value of guidance, learning, and right conduct in holy spaces.
Vaiśampāyana continues describing Yudhiṣṭhira’s pilgrimage journey: as he travels onward, he visits many coastal tīrthas, observing their beauty and holiness, and notes that many are inhabited by brāhmaṇas, which enhances their splendor.
