Nāvyāśrama-nirmāṇa and Ṛśyaśṛṅga’s Distraction

Thus, in the sacred Mahābhārata, within the Vana Parva, in the section on the pilgrimage to holy places (Tīrthayātrā Parva), in the context of Lomaśa’s pilgrimage narrative, the one-hundred-and-tenth chapter—dealing with the episode of Ṛṣyaśṛṅga—comes to its conclusion.
This line is a colophon rather than a doctrinal verse; its teaching is structural and ethical in framing: it signals that pilgrimage (tīrthayātrā) and exemplary sub-tales (upākhyānas) are presented as organized vehicles for reflecting on dharma, merit, and right conduct.
The text formally closes a chapter: within Vana Parva’s Tīrthayātrā Parva, in the context of Logaśa’s pilgrimage account, the chapter whose subject is the Ṛṣyaśṛṅga episode is declared complete.
