Ṛśyaśṛṅgopākhyāna-praveśaḥ — Lomāśa narrates the origins of Ṛśyaśṛṅga and the Anga drought (ऋश्यशृङ्गोपाख्यान-प्रवेशः)
इहाप्लुतानां कौन्तेय सद्यः पाप्माभिहन्यते । कुरुश्रेष्ठाभिषेकं॑ वै तस्मात् कुरु सहानुज:,कुन्तीनन्दन! इस तीर्थमें गोता लगानेवाले मानवोंका सारा पाप तत्काल नष्ट हो जाता है। अतः कुरुश्रेष्ठी तुम अपने भाइयोंके साथ यहाँ स्नान करो
ihāplutānāṃ kaunteya sadyaḥ pāpmābhihanyate | kuruśreṣṭhābhiṣekaṃ vai tasmāt kuru sahānujaiḥ ||
Lomasha said: “O son of Kuntī, for those who bathe here, sin is destroyed at once. Therefore, O best of the Kurus, perform the sacred bathing rite here together with your younger brothers.”

The verse emphasizes the purificatory power of a sacred tīrtha: sincere bathing/immersion there is said to destroy moral taint immediately, encouraging ethical renewal through pilgrimage and ritual discipline.
During the Pāṇḍavas’ forest period, the sage Lomasha guides Yudhiṣṭhira (Kaunteya) through holy places and urges him—along with his younger brothers—to perform the tīrtha-bath as a consecratory act that removes sin.
