तं शिलाताडनजडं पर्यधावत राक्षस: । बाहुविक्षिप्तकिरण: स्वर्भानुरिव भास्करम्,वे शिलाके आघातसे जडवत् हो रहे थे। उस अवस्थामें वह राक्षस भीमसेनकी ओर उसी तरह दौड़ा जैसे राहु अपनी भुजाओंसे सूर्यकी किरणोंका निवारण करते हुए उनपर आक्रमण करता है
taṁ śilātāḍanajaḍaṁ paryadhāvata rākṣasaḥ | bāhuvikṣiptakiraṇaḥ svarbhānur iva bhāskaram ||
Seeing him stunned and motionless from the stone-blows, the rākṣasa rushed straight at him—like Svarbhānu (Rāhu) charging the Sun, spreading his arms to obstruct the sunbeams.
विदुर उवाच
The verse highlights how adharma often strikes when an opponent is weakened, while true strength is measured by steadiness under sudden adversity; the eclipse-simile frames the attacker as one who thrives by obstructing another’s light.
A rākṣasa charges at a man who has been rendered dazed by stone-blows; the poet compares the rush to Svarbhānu (Rāhu) attacking the Sun, arms outspread to block its rays.
