Vaiśaṃpāyana said: Nara and Nārāyaṇa invited the king, saying, “What service shall be done for you?” Thereupon he once again recounted, in due order and exactly as it had occurred, the entire account of his mission—how he had approached with reverence, bowed at their feet, and been received with fitting hospitality: offered a seat, water, fruits and roots, and invited to partake of food. The scene affirms the dharma of honoring guests and rulers, and of speaking truthfully and in orderly fashion when seeking counsel.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights dharma through hospitality and humility: worthy hosts ask what service they can render, and the guest responds with truthful, orderly speech. Ethical conduct is shown in honoring a visitor/king and in narrating events accurately when seeking guidance.
After being welcomed, the king is asked by Nara and Nārāyaṇa what they should do for him. In response, he recounts his entire story again, step by step, as it happened.
