Kṛṣṇa’s Counsel to Dhṛtarāṣṭra in the Assembly
प्रवीरा: सर्वलोकस्य युवान: सिंहविक्रमा: । परिवार्य रथं शौरेरगच्छन्त परंतपा:,शत्रुओंको संताप देनेवाले, सिंहके समान पराक्रमी तथा सम्पूर्ण जगतके प्रख्यात तरुण वीर भगवान् श्रीकृष्णके रथको घेरकर चलते थे
vaiśampāyana uvāca | pravīrāḥ sarvalokasya yuvānaḥ siṃhavikramāḥ | parivārya rathaṃ śaurer agacchanta paraṃtapāḥ ||
Vaiśampāyana said: The renowned young heroes of the whole world—lion-like in valor and fierce in battle—moved along surrounding the chariot of Śauri (Śrī Kṛṣṇa), intent on scorching the enemy with their might.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights disciplined guardianship and coordinated strength: capable warriors place themselves around the leader’s chariot, showing that valor is most effective when guided by duty, order, and protective responsibility rather than mere aggression.
A group of famed youthful heroes proceeds while encircling Kṛṣṇa’s chariot, acting as an armed escort. The narration emphasizes their reputation, lion-like prowess, and readiness to strike down opponents as the events of the Udyoga Parva move toward open conflict.
