Indra’s Distress: Slaying of Triśiras, Birth of Vṛtra, and the Origin of Yawning
तदरण्यं महाराज यत्रास्तेडसौ निपातितः । स भीततस्तत्र तक्षाणं घटमानं शचीपति:,महाराज! वह बढ़ई उसी वनमें आया, जहाँ त्रिशिराको मार गिराया गया था। डरे हुए शचीपति इन्द्रने वहाँ अपना काम करते हुए बढ़ईको देखा। देखते ही पाकशासन इन्द्रने तुरंत उससे कहा--“बढ़ई! तू शीघ्र इस शवके तीनों मस्तकोंके टुकड़े-टुकड़े कर दे। मेरी इस आज्ञाका पालन कर'
tad araṇyaṃ mahārāja yatrāste ’sau nipātitaḥ | sa bhītas tatra takṣāṇaṃ ghaṭamānaṃ śacīpatiḥ ||
Śalya said: “O great king, in that very forest where he lay slain, the lord of Śacī (Indra), gripped by fear, saw a carpenter there engaged in his work.” The line sets the scene for Indra’s anxious intervention at the place where the fallen body lies, hinting at a moral tension: even a powerful deity, when threatened by consequences, seeks immediate practical measures through human agency.
