धृतराष्ट उवाच
Material gifts and outward generosity cannot replace dharma. Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s offer of treasures signals deference and an attempt to placate Kṛṣṇa, but the deeper ethical point is that peace requires justice and right action, not merely wealth or concessions that avoid the real moral issue.
During Kṛṣṇa’s diplomatic mission in the Udyoga Parva, Dhṛtarāṣṭra speaks of the treasures held by himself and Duryodhana and declares that whatever Kṛṣṇa wishes to take should be given without hesitation—an act framed as hospitality and appeasement amid escalating tensions leading toward war.
