Yudhiṣṭhira said: “You know us, and you know the others as well; you understand our respective interests, and you also know how to speak in counsel. Therefore, O Kṛṣṇa, whatever you judge to be for our welfare—tell all of that to Suyodhana (Duryodhana).”

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights prudent dharmic diplomacy: a wise mediator must understand both sides’ interests and speak skillfully, communicating what truly serves welfare and justice rather than inflaming conflict.

In the Udyoga Parva’s lead-up to war, Yudhiṣṭhira entrusts Kṛṣṇa—who is about to engage Duryodhana—with the task of conveying whatever counsel will best secure the Pāṇḍavas’ welfare, reflecting Kṛṣṇa’s role as negotiator and moral strategist.
