धृतराष्ट्रस्य बलाबलचिन्ता

Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Appraisal of Strength and Preference for Śama

दुर्योधनेयं चिन्ता मे शश्वन्न व्युपशाम्यति । सत्यं होतदहं मन्ये प्रत्यक्ष नानुमानत:,“वत्स दुर्योधन! मेरी यह चिन्ता कभी दूर नहीं होती है, क्योंकि तुम्हारा पक्ष दुर्बल है। मैं यह बात अनुमानसे नहीं कहता हूँ; प्रत्यक्ष देख रहा हूँ; अतः इसीको सत्य मानता हूँ

duryodhaneyaṁ cintā me śaśvān na vyupaśāmyati | satyaṁ hotad ahaṁ manye pratyakṣaṁ nānumānataḥ |

Vaiśampāyana said: “My concern about Duryodhana never truly subsides. I hold this to be the truth—not as a mere inference, but from direct perception.”
