Udyoga Parva Adhyāya 58 — Saṃjaya’s Audience and Kṛṣṇa’s Deterrent Counsel
kāñcanaṃ pādapīṭhaṃ tu pārtho me prādiśat tadā | tad ahaṃ pāṇinā spṛṣṭvā tato bhūmāv upāviśam ||
Sañjaya said: “At that time Pārtha (Arjuna) indicated to me a golden footstool as a seat. I merely touched it with my hand and then sat down on the ground.” The moment underscores Sañjaya’s humility and restraint in the presence of a revered prince, choosing simplicity over luxury and showing respect through modest conduct.
