Udyoga Parva Adhyāya 58 — Saṃjaya’s Audience and Kṛṣṇa’s Deterrent Counsel (संजय-प्रवेशः कृष्णवाक्यं च)

एकेन पाण्डुपुत्रेण विराटनगरे यदा । भग्ना: पलायत दिश: पर्याप्त॑ तन्निदर्शनम्‌,“जब विराटनगरमें एकमात्र पाण्डुकुमार अर्जुनसे पराजित हो तुमलोगोंने भागकर विभिन्न दिशाओंकी शरण ली थी, वह एक ही दृष्टान्त अर्जुनकी प्रबलताका पर्याप्त प्रमाण है

ekena pāṇḍuputreṇa virāṭanagare yadā | bhagnāḥ palāyata diśaḥ paryāptaṃ tan nidarśanam ||

“When, in the city of Virāṭa, you were routed by a single son of Pāṇḍu and fled in different directions, that single incident itself is sufficient proof of Arjuna’s overwhelming might.”
