Dhṛtarāṣṭra said: “Whatever the two great-souled ones—Vāsudeva (Kṛṣṇa) and Dhanañjaya (Arjuna)—have spoken, tell me that. O greatly wise Sañjaya, I wish to hear their message from your own mouth.”
धृतराष्ट उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical importance of attentive listening to wise counsel: a ruler seeks to know what the noble agents (Kṛṣṇa and Arjuna) have said, indicating that decisions in a crisis of dharma and war should be informed by truthful reporting and reflective hearing.
Dhṛtarāṣṭra asks Sañjaya to report the words spoken by Kṛṣṇa and Arjuna, setting up Sañjaya’s role as the narrator who conveys crucial communications and deliberations during the tense pre-war diplomacy of the Udyoga Parva.
