Sanjaya said: “Duryodhana, together with his sons and along with his hundred brothers, and also the Kuru forces drawn from the eastern and southern regions, were assigned as Bhīmasena’s allotted share.”

The verse highlights how war is organized through deliberate assignment of forces, revealing the ethical tension between strategic planning and the human cost: individuals become ‘allotted shares’ in a larger design, intensifying responsibility for leaders who choose conflict.
Sañjaya reports the distribution/assignment of combatants: Duryodhana with his sons, his hundred brothers, and eastern and southern Kuru contingents are designated as the set of opponents to be faced by Bhīmasena.
