Dhṛtarāṣṭra said: “We have heard that three mighty splendors have come together at once: Śrī Kṛṣṇa and Arjuna are stationed on a single chariot, and the bow Gāṇḍīva stands strung with its bowstring. Thus, these three powers—Kṛṣṇa, Arjuna, and the fully readied Gāṇḍīva—are united in one place at the same time. This is what has reached our ears.”
The verse highlights how dharmic strength is not merely numerical but arises from the convergence of righteous agency (Arjuna), guiding wisdom (Kṛṣṇa), and preparedness/means (the strung Gāṇḍīva). It implicitly warns that when such forces unite, opposition rooted in adharma becomes morally and strategically vulnerable.
Dhṛtarāṣṭra reports what he has heard: Kṛṣṇa and Arjuna are together on one chariot and Arjuna’s bow Gāṇḍīva is already strung. He interprets this as three formidable ‘splendors’ gathered at once, signaling a grave threat to his side.
