Udyoga-parva Adhyāya 50 — Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Appraisal of Bhīmasena (भीमसेनभयवर्णनम्)
तदैव न हता: सर्वे पुत्रा मम मनस्विना । संजय! मुझे अमर्षमें भरे हुए शूरवीर भीमसेनका समाचार सुनाओ। मैं तो यही सबसे बड़ा लाभ मानता हूँ कि उस शत्रुधाती मनस्वी वीरने (जब द्यूतक्रीड़ा हो रही थी) उसी समय मेरे सब पुत्रोंको नहीं मार डाला
tadaiva na hatāḥ sarve putrā mama manasvinā | sañjaya, mamāmarṣeṇa bhareṇa śūravīra-bhīmasenasya samācāraṃ śaṃsa | ahaṃ tu etad eva sarva-lābhānāṃ mahattamaṃ manye yat sa śatrughātī manasvī vīro dyūtakrīḍāyāṃ pravṛttāyām api tadaiva mama sarva-putrān na jaghāna |
Dhṛtarāṣṭra said: “At that very time, my sons were not all slain by that high-spirited hero. Sañjaya, tell me news of the mighty warrior Bhīmasena, who is filled with indignation. Indeed, I count it the greatest of gains that the resolute, enemy-slaying hero did not, even while the dice-game was going on, kill all my sons then and there.”
