Sañjaya said: “Whoever imagines that he can, by sheer force, suddenly stir up a quarrel between me and Kṛṣṇa—whoever thinks he can erase the Pāṇḍavas’ sense of belonging and loyal affection toward Kṛṣṇa—will learn the truth of it when he reaches the battlefield and faces the reality of war.”

The verse highlights the limits of coercive politics: genuine bonds of loyalty and shared purpose—here, the Pāṇḍavas’ steadfast attachment to Kṛṣṇa—cannot be reliably broken by intimidation or manipulation. Reality, especially in the crucible of war, exposes such overconfidence.
Sañjaya reports Duryodhana’s assumption that discord can be forced between Sañjaya and Kṛṣṇa and that the Pāṇḍavas’ allegiance to Kṛṣṇa can be undone. Sañjaya counters that once Duryodhana reaches the battlefield, he will understand the true strength of those alliances.
