Sañjaya said: “Then Duryodhana, the son of Dhṛtarāṣṭra, will behold his own men vanishing—unable to come within the enemy’s range of weapons, and accomplishing no deed of valor anywhere on the battlefield. Seeing this collapse of effort and courage, he will inwardly burn with regret for having set this war in motion.”

Educational Q&A

Initiating an unrighteous conflict out of pride and greed leads to predictable moral and practical collapse: when courage and competence fail, the instigator is left with inner remorse rather than honor.

Sañjaya foretells that Duryodhana will witness his own warriors unable to close with the enemy or display valor, instead disappearing under pressure; seeing this, he will regret having provoked the war.
