Entry into the Royal Assembly and Sañjaya’s Envoy Report
sañjaya uvāca | yathāhaṁ dhṛtarāṣṭreṇa śiṣṭaḥ pūrvam ito gataḥ | abruvaṁ pāṇḍavān gatvā tannibodhata pārthivāḥ | (abrūtāṁ tatra dharmeṇa vāsudeva-dhanañjayau) |
Sanjaya said: “Just as King Dhritarashtra instructed me earlier when I departed from here, so did I speak after going to the Pandavas. O kings, now listen attentively to the reply that Vasudeva (Krishna) and Dhananjaya (Arjuna) have given there, in accordance with dharma.”

The verse emphasizes faithful transmission of counsel and the ethical standard of dharma in response: Sanjaya reports that he conveyed Dhritarashtra’s message as instructed, and now urges the assembled kings to hear the dharma-aligned reply given by Krishna and Arjuna.
In the lead-up to war, Sanjaya is reporting at the Kaurava court. He states that he delivered Dhritarashtra’s words to the Pandavas and now introduces the righteous response spoken by Krishna and Arjuna, asking the gathered rulers to listen carefully.
