From the sway of this (inner) command, there issues forth among human beings a death in the forms of anger, heedlessness, and greed—driving them toward ruin. One who, mastered by ego, walks the wrong path does not attain union with the Self; no such person reaches true realization of the Supreme.
सनत्युजात उवाच
Anger, heedlessness, and greed function like ‘death’ because they destroy discernment and lead to downfall; ego-driven conduct on a wrong path blocks yoga—true union/realization of the Self.
Sanatsujāta is instructing (in the Udyoga Parva dialogue) on inner causes of ruin and the obstacles to spiritual realization, warning that ego and its allied vices prevent attaining the Self.
