Sañjaya said: King Dhṛtarāṣṭra, approving the path of peace, hastily had my chariot made ready and dispatched me. May this message of reconciliation from the king—together with his brothers, sons, and kinsmen—be acceptable to the Pāṇḍavas, so that peace may be established between the two sides.
संजय उवाच
Peace (śama) is presented as an ethically preferable royal policy before resorting to war, especially when the conflict is among relatives; the king’s duty includes attempting reconciliation to prevent needless destruction.
Dhṛtarāṣṭra urgently prepares Sañjaya’s chariot and sends him as an envoy, hoping the Pāṇḍavas will accept a peace message so that a settlement can be reached between the two factions.
