Vaiśaṃpāyana said: The Brahmin priest whom King Drupada of the Pañcālas had dispatched as an envoy to the Kauravas, on arriving there, beheld the vast mustering of their army. Even when righteous negotiation is pursued through proper channels (a priestly envoy), leaders must recognize escalating signs of adharma—such as aggressive militarization—and respond with clarity about consequences and responsibility.
Drupada’s Brahmin priest, sent to the Kauravas as a messenger, reaches their camp and witnesses a massive assembly of troops, indicating that preparations for war are already underway despite ongoing diplomatic exchanges.
