Ambā’s Vow of Tapas after Paraśurāma’s Assessment (अम्बाया तपोव्रतनिश्चयः)
पुत्रस्नेहान्महाबाहु: सुखं पर्यचरत् तदा । सर्वनिभिप्रायकृतान् भार्यालभत कौरव
putrasnehān mahābāhuḥ sukhaṃ paryacarat tadā | sarvanibhīprāyakṛtān bhāryālabhata kaurava ||
Bhishma said: “Moved by affection for the son who was to be born, the mighty-armed prince then lived in comfort and treated his beloved queen with great happiness. O scion of the Kuru line, he honored her and ensured that whatever she desired was promptly provided before her.”
भीष्म उवाच
A ruler’s dharma includes attentive care and honor toward his wife, especially during pregnancy; affection should express itself as responsible provision, respect, and protection rather than mere sentiment.
Bhishma describes a Kuru prince who, out of love for the child to be born, keeps his queen happy, treats her with honor, and arranges that all her desired comforts and necessities are provided.
