Rāma said: “Revered one, what you have said is right. In truth, the noble-minded Bhīṣma is unconquerable in battle—even for the gods. With all your strength and with full zeal you have carried out my task. In war you have displayed a valor that none but Bhīṣma could withstand, and you have also brought forth many kinds of divine weapons.”
The verse highlights ethical recognition of excellence and limits: true appraisal of another’s prowess (Bhīṣma’s near-invincibility) and gratitude for wholehearted effort (‘to the best of one’s power and zeal’) are integral to righteous leadership and martial dharma.
Rāma addresses a revered interlocutor, affirming their statement about Bhīṣma’s invincibility. He then commends the listener for having fulfilled his commission with full effort, demonstrating formidable valor in battle and manifesting various divine weapons.
