कवचेन महाबाहो सोमार्ककृतलक्ष्मणा | धनुर्धरो बद्धतूणो बद्धगोधाड्गुलित्रवान्,महाबाहो! परशुरामजीने एक सुन्दर कवच धारण कर रखा था, जिसमें चन्द्रमा और सूर्यके चिह्न बने हुए थे। उन्होंने हाथमें धनुष लेकर पीठपर तरकस बाँध रखा था और अंगुलियोंकी रक्षाके लिये गोहके चर्मके बने हुए दस्ताने पहन रखे थे
kavacena mahābāho somārkakṛtalakṣmaṇā | dhanurdharo baddhatūṇo baddhagodhāṅgulitravān ||
Bhīṣma said: “O mighty-armed one, he wore a fine coat of mail marked with the emblems of the moon and the sun. Bearing his bow, with his quiver fastened on his back, he had also bound on finger-guards made of iguana-hide for the protection of his hand.”
भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights the disciplined preparedness expected of a warrior: proper arms and protective gear are not mere ornament but signs of readiness to uphold kṣatriya-dharma in a grave conflict.
Bhīṣma is describing a warrior’s battle-ready appearance—wearing armor marked with lunar and solar emblems, carrying a bow, with a quiver strapped on, and using finger-protectors—emphasizing the seriousness and formality of the impending martial encounter.
