Bhishma said: “O King, when Rāma (Paraśurāma) saw her beauty and her fresh youthful form, and noticed her extreme delicacy, he became anxious, wondering what she might say. Filled with compassion toward her, Paraśurāma—the ornament of the Bhṛgu lineage—remained for a long time absorbed in thought about her.”
भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights ethical restraint and compassion: a powerful figure should not act impulsively but reflect carefully, especially when confronted with vulnerability, beauty, or a plea that may demand a dharmic response.
Bhīṣma describes Paraśurāma’s reaction upon seeing the young woman’s delicate beauty: Paraśurāma becomes concerned about what she will request or declare and, moved by pity, spends time thinking about her situation before responding.
