Adhyāya 160: Arjuna’s Envoy-Message—Critique of Borrowed Valor and Pre-dawn Mobilization

evaṁ katthasi kaunteya akatthan puruṣo bhava |

Ulūka taunts the son of Kuntī: “Why do you boast like this? Do not be a man who merely talks of valor—be a man in deed. If you truly claim heroism, prove it by facing Bhīṣma on the battlefield rather than praising yourself from safety.” The speech is meant to provoke shame and anger, pushing the opponent toward rash action and away from measured dharma.
