क्लिष्टाया वर्षपूगांश्न मातुर्मातृहिते स्थित: । प्रमार्जाश्रु रणे जित्वा सम्मानं परमावह,“तुम्हारी माता वर्षोंसे कष्ट भोग रही है; अतः माताके हितमें तत्पर हो उसके आँसू पोंछो और युद्धमें विजय प्राप्त करके परम सम्मानके भागी बनो
kliṣṭāyā varṣa-pūgān mātur mātṛ-hite sthitaḥ | pramārjāśru raṇe jitvā sammānaṃ paramāvaha ||
Sañjaya said: “Your mother has endured a multitude of years in hardship. Therefore, stand firmly for your mother’s welfare—wipe away her tears, and by winning in battle, attain the highest honor.”
संजय उवाच
One should act with steadfast concern for a parent’s welfare, combining compassion (wiping away tears) with duty appropriate to one’s role (seeking victory and honor in battle).
Sañjaya reports an exhortation addressed to a warrior: remembering the mother’s long suffering, the addressee is urged to act for her benefit—console her and secure victory, thereby restoring dignity and honor.
