Ulūka’s Provocative Envoy-Speech in the Pāṇḍava Camp
Ulūka-dūta-vākya
ehi sañjaya sarva me ācakṣvānavaśeṣataḥ | senāniveśe yad vṛttaṃ kuru-pāṇḍava-senayoḥ ||
“Come here, Sañjaya, and tell me everything without leaving anything out—what occurred when the armies of the Kurus and the Pāṇḍavas had taken up their encampments.”
The verse emphasizes the ethical necessity of complete and truthful narration—events leading to war must be reported “without remainder,” since moral evaluation (dharma) depends on an accurate account.
Vaiśampāyana introduces a moment where Sañjaya is summoned and asked to recount in full what transpired once the Kuru and Pāṇḍava armies had established their camps and formations.
