Rukmī’s Offer of Aid and Arjuna’s Refusal (रुक्मिप्रस्तावः—अर्जुनप्रत्याख्यानम्)

निर्घाता: पृथिवीकम्पा गजबंहितनि:स्वना: । आसंश्न सर्वयोधानां पातयन्तो मनांस्युत,हाथियोंके चिग्घाड़नेके साथ ही बिजलीकी गड़गड़ाहटके समान भयंकर शब्द होने लगे। धरती डोलने लगी। इन सब उत्पातोंने प्रकट होकर समस्त योद्धाओंके मानसिक उत्साहको दबा दिया

Terrible crashes arose—like thunder with the elephants’ roars—and the earth began to quake. Those portents, once revealed, weighed down the hearts of all the warriors and crushed their ardor.
