पाञ्चजन्यस्य निर्घोषं विस्फूर्जितमिवाशने: । निशम्य सर्वसैन्यानि समहृष्यन्त सर्वश:
pāñcajanyasya nirghoṣaṃ visphūrjitam ivāśaneḥ | niśamya sarvasainyāni samahṛṣyanta sarvaśaḥ ||
Vaiśampāyana said: Hearing the deep roar of the conch Pāñcajanya—like the thunderous crash of lightning—every division of the army was filled with exhilaration on all sides. The sound steadied their resolve and kindled collective courage as the war’s decisive hour drew near.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights how a righteous cause and confident leadership can unify and uplift a community: a single emblematic signal (the conch’s roar) transforms fear into shared courage and readiness to act.
As the conflict approaches, the booming sound of Pāñcajanya is heard like thunder; on hearing it, the assembled troops become thrilled and joyful, their morale rising across the battlefield.
