Nahūṣa’s Pride, the Ṛṣi-Borne Palanquin, and the Search for Indra

pṛthivīṃ cāntarikṣaṃ ca vicintyātha manogatiḥ | nimeṣāntaramātreṇa bṛhaspatimupāgamat ||

After surveying both the earth and the mid-region of the sky, the swift-moving one—whose speed was like that of thought—returned in no more than the span of a blink to Bṛhaspati. The narrative underscores disciplined service: a messenger’s duty is fulfilled through focused search, restraint, and prompt reporting to rightful authority rather than acting on impulse.
