visṛjya dhṛtarāṣṭrāya rājyaṃ sa-vidurāya ca | cacāra pṛthivīṃ pāṇḍuḥ sarvāṃ para-purañjayaḥ ||
Having entrusted the kingdom to Dhṛtarāṣṭra—together with Vidura—Pāṇḍu, famed as a conqueror of enemy strongholds, set aside royal life and wandered over the whole earth. The verse highlights a deliberate act of responsible renunciation: power is not clung to, but handed over in an orderly way, after which the king turns to a wider, disciplined course of life.
वायुदेव उवाच
Authority should be exercised without attachment: when a ruler steps away, he should transfer power responsibly and in an orderly manner, then pursue a disciplined life beyond personal ambition.
Vāyudeva narrates that Pāṇḍu hands over the kingdom to Dhṛtarāṣṭra (with Vidura) and then roams across the earth, characterized as a victor over enemy strongholds.
