Vidura said: Whatever the foremost of the Kurus—Devavrata, the great-souled, truth-bound, and wise—declares, all of that should be accepted by us in full, without trimming or contradiction, for we are charged with safeguarding the kingdom and upholding our own dharma.

Those responsible for protecting the realm and upholding dharma should heed the counsel of a proven, truth-bound elder (Bhishma/Devavrata) without distorting it for convenience; ethical governance depends on faithful acceptance of wise guidance.
In the tense pre-war deliberations of the Udyoga Parva, Vidura urges the Kuru leadership to accept Bhishma’s words completely, emphasizing Bhishma’s authority, integrity, and wisdom as essential for preserving the kingdom and rightful duty.
