Vaiśaṃpāyana said: Among the ill‑counselled men—Jayadratha, Karṇa, Duḥśāsana, and Śakuni—there will arise a mutual rift. In the moral atmosphere of the Udyoga Parva, this foretells how adharma, driven by pride and crooked policy, turns allies against one another and hastens ruin even before the war’s weapons are raised.

Unrighteous counsel (durbuddhi) corrodes solidarity: when ambition and deceit guide decisions, even powerful allies fracture from within, making downfall a moral and practical inevitability.
Vaiśaṃpāyana foreshadows internal discord among key Kaurava-aligned figures—Jayadratha, Karṇa, Duḥśāsana, and Śakuni—indicating that their coalition, built on adharma and manipulation, will not remain stable.
