Udyoga Parva 142: Vidura’s warning to Kuntī and Kuntī’s resolve to meet Karṇa

Gaṅgātīra encounter begins

“मधुसूदन! मंगल ग्रह ज्येष्ठाके निकटसे वक्रणतिका आश्रय ले अनुराधा नक्षत्रपर आना चाहते हैं। जो राज्यस्थ राजाके मित्रमण्डलका विनाश-सा सूचित कर रहे हैं ।। नूनं महद्धयं कृष्ण कुरूणां समुपस्थितम्‌ । विशेषेण हि वार्ष्णेय चित्रां पीडयते ग्रह:,वृष्णिनन्दन श्रीकृष्ण! निश्चय ही कौरवोंपर महान्‌ भय उपस्थित हुआ है। विशेषत: “महापात” नामक ग्रह चित्राको पीड़ा दे रहा है (जो राजाओंके विनाशका सूचक है)

sañjaya uvāca |

nūnaṃ mahad bhayaṃ kṛṣṇa kurūṇāṃ samupasthitam |

viśeṣeṇa hi vārṣṇeya citrāṃ pīḍayate grahaḥ ||

Sañjaya said: “Kṛṣṇa, a great terror has surely come upon the Kurus. In particular, O Vārṣṇeya, a baleful celestial influence is afflicting Citrā (the star Spica)—an omen traditionally read as foretelling the ruin of kings and the collapse of royal alliances.”
