“O charioteer, the Kṣatriyas beget such a hero—one who restrains the wicked and protects those who walk in dharma, whose prowess is grounded in truth.”
पुत्र उवाच
A true Kṣatriya-hero is defined ethically: he restrains the unrighteous and safeguards those devoted to dharma, and his valor is inseparable from truth.
The speaker (identified as ‘the son’) praises an ideal warrior in a direct address to a charioteer, framing heroic excellence as moral governance—checking wrongdoing and protecting the dharmic.
