Krishna’s Theophanic Display in the Kuru Assembly
varuṇo nirjito rājā pāvakaś cāmitaujasaḥ | pārijātaṃ ca haratā jitaḥ sākṣāc chacīpatiḥ ||
Vidura declares Śrī Kṛṣṇa’s proven supremacy through celebrated deeds: he overcame King Varuṇa, subdued Agni (the Fire-god) despite his immeasurable might, and—when carrying off the celestial Pārijāta tree—defeated even Indra himself, the lord of Śacī. The ethical force of the statement is to remind the Kuru court that opposing such a protector of dharma is not merely imprudent but morally misguided, for Kṛṣṇa’s power is aligned with righteous purpose and has already prevailed over divine adversaries.
