अनेक युगों तथा असंख्य वर्षोकी आयुवाले नरकासुरको युद्धमें मारकर श्रीकृष्ण उसके यहाँसे सहस्रों राजकन्याओंको (उद्धार करके) ले गये और उन सबके साथ उन्होंने विधिपूर्वक विवाह किया ।। निर्मोचने षट्‌ सहस्रा: पाशैर्बद्धा महासुरा: । ग्रहीतुं नाशकंश्रैनं त॑ त्वं प्रार्थथसे बलात्‌

nirmocane ṣaṭ-sahasrāḥ pāśair baddhā mahāsurāḥ | grahītuṃ nāśakaṃs taṃ tvam prārthayase balāt ||

Vidura said: “At the time of their release, six thousand mighty demons were bound fast in nooses, yet they could not seize him. And you now seek to take him by force.”
