Vidura said: “At the time of their release, six thousand mighty demons were bound fast in nooses, yet they could not seize him. And you now seek to take him by force.”
विदुर उवाच
Vidura warns against arrogant, force-driven action: if even powerful adversaries, though numerous, could not overpower the one in question, it is both imprudent and unrighteous to attempt to subdue him by coercion. True policy aligns strength with dharma and realistic judgment.
In the Udyoga Parva’s counsel-setting, Vidura addresses the Kuru court’s hostile intent toward Kṛṣṇa. He cites a precedent: many mighty beings, even in great number and despite being bound, failed to seize him—thereby rebuking the present plan to capture or constrain him by force.
