Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the ethical rhythm of deliberation: one should first listen carefully to wise counsel (Bhīṣma’s words) and then respond with measured leadership. It frames Kṛṣṇa’s forthcoming speech as responsible guidance offered to elders and authorities in a crisis.

After Bhīṣma has spoken, Kṛṣṇa listens and then turns to address the gathered leaders—especially Bhīṣma and Droṇa—signaling that he is about to present his position or advice in the tense pre-war deliberations of the Udyoga Parva.
