Udyoga Parva — Gandhārī’s Counsel to Duryodhana
vaiśampāyana uvāca
evaṁ bruvati dāśārhe duryodhanam amarṣaṇam | duḥśāsana idaṁ vākyam abravīt kurusaṁsadi ||
Vaiśampāyana said: While Dāśārha (Śrī Kṛṣṇa) was speaking thus, Duḥśāsana, in the assembly of the Kurus, interrupted and addressed these words to the hot-tempered Duryodhana.
The verse highlights how ethical counsel (dharma-based speech) can be thwarted when leaders are ruled by intolerance and pride; impulsive interruption in a public assembly signals moral resistance to reconciliation and accelerates conflict.
As Kṛṣṇa (Dāśārha) is speaking in the Kuru court, Duḥśāsana interjects and addresses Duryodhana, indicating the Kauravas’ unwillingness to patiently hear conciliatory or corrective advice and foreshadowing the collapse of diplomacy.
