janmaprabhṛti kaunteyā nityaṁ vinikṛtās tvayā | na ca te jātu kupyanti dharmātmāno hi pāṇḍavāḥ ||
Vaiśampāyana said: “From their very birth, O son of Kuntī, you have continually dealt with them through deceit and injury; yet they have never at any time grown angry with you—because the Pāṇḍavas are steadfast in dharma.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
True adherence to dharma is shown not only in action but in restraint: even when repeatedly wronged, the righteous maintain self-control and do not let anger govern their conduct.
Vaiśampāyana highlights the long-standing pattern of deceit and harm inflicted upon the Pāṇḍavas by the Kuru side, emphasizing that the Pāṇḍavas have endured these wrongs without retaliatory anger because of their commitment to dharma.
