Kṛṣṇa’s Ethical Counsel to Duryodhana
Bhīṣma said: “Those who recount this tale of falling and rising again will, even when they meet perilous hardships, surely cross beyond them—of this there is no doubt.”
Recounting and internalizing exemplary teachings about decline and recovery strengthens resolve; such remembrance helps one ‘cross over’ even severe dangers and hardships.
In Bhīṣma’s counsel within the Udyoga Parva, he commends a particular instructive account—described as ‘falling and rising’—and asserts its protective, empowering effect for those who repeat and transmit it.
