Udyoga Parva, Adhyaya 104: Nārada on Suhṛt and Nirbandha; the Viśvāmitra–Gālava Exemplum Begins
स विष्णुं शिरसा पक्षी प्रणम्य विनतासुत: । विचेता विह्नललो दीन: किंचिद् वचनमब्रवीत्,तदनन्तर अचेत एवं विह्नल हुए विनतापुत्र पक्षिराज गरुड़ने भगवान् विष्णुके चरणोंमें प्रणाम किया और दीनभावसे कुछ कहा--
sa viṣṇuṁ śirasā pakṣī praṇamya vinatāsutaḥ | vicetā vihvalalo dīnaḥ kiñcid vacanam abravīt |
Then the winged one, Garuḍa—the son of Vinatā—bowed his head in reverence to Viṣṇu. Still dazed and distressed, he spoke a few words in a humble, downcast tone.
