Udyoga Parva Adhyāya 103: Garuḍa’s Protest, Viṣṇu’s Demonstration, and Counsel Toward Śama
अभिगम्य स्वयं कन्यामयं दातुं समुद्यत:
abhigamya svayaṃ kanyāmayaṃ dātuṃ samudyataḥ
Having gone in person, he himself stood ready to give the maiden—acting directly and decisively, as one who takes responsibility for a promised gift rather than delegating it to others.
नारद उवाच
The verse highlights personal accountability in dharmic action: when a duty involves giving or fulfilling a commitment, one should act directly, with readiness and resolve, rather than avoiding responsibility.
Nārada describes someone who personally approaches and stands prepared to give a maiden—suggesting an imminent formal offering, likely connected with a marriage arrangement or a pledged gift.
