स्त्रीपर्व १: धृतराष्ट्रशोकः संजयाश्वासनं च

Strī Parva 1: Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Lament and Saṃjaya’s Consolation

सृञ्जये पुत्रशोकार्ते यदूचु्मुनय: पुरा । “नृपश्रेष्ठ राजन! आपने बड़े-बूढ़ोंके मुखसे वे वेदोंके सिद्धान्त, नाना प्रकारके शास्त्र एवं आमम सुने हैं, जिन्हें पूर्वकालमें मुनियोंने राजा सूंजयको पुत्रशोकसे पीड़ित होनेपर सुनाया था, अत: आप शोक त्याग दीजिये

Sṛñjaye putraśokārte yad ūcur munayaḥ purā.

Vaiśaṃpāyana said: “O king, you have heard from the mouths of elders those established conclusions of the Vedas and the many teachings of the śāstras—those very consolations that, in ancient times, sages spoke to King Sṛñjaya when he was tormented by grief for his son. Therefore, abandon your sorrow.”
