Ambarīṣa said: “I observed rigorous brahmacarya, lived by the conduct taught by my teacher, and served my teacher; thus, in accordance with dharma, I studied the Vedas and also received specialized training in the science of kingship. I honored guests by offering food and drink; I satisfied the ancestors through śrāddha rites with the prescribed offerings; I revered the seers by undertaking vows and initiations connected with self-study; and I worshiped the gods by performing the finest sacrifices.”

Dharma is upheld through disciplined learning and conduct: rigorous brahmacarya, faithful service to the teacher, righteous study of the Vedas and statecraft, and a fourfold reverence—hospitality to guests, rites for ancestors, devotion to seers through vows of study, and worship of the gods through excellent sacrifices.
Ambarīṣa describes his own formation and practice: he recounts how he trained under a guru, mastered Vedic learning and royal policy, and then lived a life of continual religious and social duty—feeding guests, performing śrāddha for ancestors, maintaining svādhyāya-based vows honoring the ṛṣis, and conducting high-grade yajñas to worship the devas.
