Yuddha-yajña-vyākhyāna (The Battle as Sacrifice): Ambarīṣa–Indra Saṃvāda

sāsya pūrṇāhutir home samṛddhā sarvakāmadhuk | vīrāṇāṁ śarīrāt saṅgrāmabhūmau mahāvegāt yo raktadhārā pravahati, saiva tasya yuddhayajñasya home samastakāmanāpūraṇī samṛddhiśālinī pūrṇāhutiḥ |

Ambarīṣa declares that in the sacrificial fire of this “war as a yajña,” the true and abundant final oblation—one that “fulfills all desires”—is the torrent of blood that rushes swiftly from the bodies of heroes upon the battlefield. That very outpouring becomes the consummating offering, revealing a stark ethical vision in which martial death is ritualized and the costs of violence are read through sacrificial symbolism.
