Vyavahāra-Śuddhi and Rājadharma: Clean Administration, Counsel, and Proportional Punishment
Chapter 86

Thus concludes the eighty-fourth chapter of the Rājadharmānuśāsana section within the Śānti Parva of the Śrī Mahābhārata, whose subject is the dialogue between Indra and Bṛhaspati—bringing to completion this unit of ethical instruction on kingship and governance.
भीष्म उवाच
This line functions as a colophon marking the completion of a chapter whose broader purpose is rājadharma—ethical instruction for rulers—presented through the authoritative dialogue of Indra and Bṛhaspati within Bhīṣma’s teaching in the Śānti Parva.
The text is not advancing the story here; it is formally closing the eighty-fourth chapter, identifying its placement (Śānti Parva → Rājadharmānuśāsana section) and its topic (the Indra–Bṛhaspati dialogue).
